Virtual School

Here is something to think about that can impact your future:

  • Would you like to earn high school credit toward graduation in a different way?

  • Do you enjoy learning while using a computer?

  • Are you looking for ways to make-up high school credits?

  • Would you like to complete your classes in a flexible learning environment at home?

  • Want flexibility in the time you complete your classes each day?

The new Virtual Education Program at Potterville Public Schools may be just what you are looking for!

Beginning August 2019, Potterville Public Schools is offering a Virtual Education Program to selected students who are struggling with the traditional high school format.  Classes will be offered in all areas needed for diploma completion through online programs called Odysseyware and Edgenuity. Students will have the flexibility to work on classes any time of day or night in an environment that best fits their learning needs.  You will have a daily class schedule but it will be set by you based on your needs and your available time schedule.

Online mentors and instructors will be here to guide you through your courses by answering questions, helping with technology issues, and coaching you through to successful completion of your high school diploma.  A computer and internet access may be provided to you if you are in need. A drop-in center will also be available if you need to meet face-to-face to get a problem solved or discuss how to best determine your path to graduation.

Program Expectations:

  • Parent/Guardian gives permission for the student to take virtual courses approved by Potterville Public Schools Board of Education.

  • Students agree to spend five (5) hours per class each week working on course work.  This would equal approximately 32 hours per week for a full-time virtual student.

  • Virtual Vikings Education Program students are counted in attendance through the weekly check-ins with their mentor/teacher.

  • It is a mandatory requirement for students to maintain weekly two-way communication with their mentor/teacher.

  • Missing three required check-ins or fifteen (15) school days of inactivity in the virtual classes may put the student at risk for dismissal from the Virtual Vikings Education Program.

  • It is expected that all virtual students are to participate in State-mandated testing (MSTEP, SAT, PSAT, ACT WorkKeys).

  • The parent serves in a role as a learning coach for their student.

The Virtual Vikings Education Program will challenge you as any high school class will and it will require that you spend time each day working in your courses.  But you have the flexibility of when and where you learn. If this sounds like an opportunity you would like to explore, give us a call today!
